Because Debounce is end-to-end encrypted, which means only you can decrypt your data, it handles your account differently than a normal website. If you forget your password, an administrator cannot help you recover it. That's why a unique 12-word phrase is generated for you during account registration. This phrase can be used to fully recover your account and decrypt your personal data in the case you forgot your password or 2FA. Make sure to store this phrase very securely and never share it with anyone, because it acts as the single master key to your account.
If you store any important data on Debounce, despite having the recovery phrase, it's recommended to export everything as a backup to ensure you never lose access to it.

  2. A piece of paper
  3. An encrypted file

Avoid storing it digitally unencrypted, especially on insecure services like email or SMS.
