This privacy policy explains how Debounce handles your data when you interact with debouncewrite.com.
Any personal data mentioned (in some scenarios excluding the IP address) is not stored after account deletion.
You can find technical information regarding privacy, cookies and encryption here

What data we collect

Debounce collects multiple types of data. Some of it is stored permanently (i.e. saved in the database) and some is stored temporarily for a short time (i.e. system memory).

Here is the data Debounce stores permanently:

  1. Email
  2. Hashed account password
  3. When service abuse is detected, IP address (this data is persisted only until the incident is resolved.)

Debounce also saves inputted data such as notes or journals, in an end-to-end encrypted form. This data is managed by you, that means creation, modification, access and deletion is the responsibility of the user.

“Service abuse” means occurrences of either excessive usage of the service (i.e. sending too many requests consistently) or direct system abuse such as creating many accounts for the purpose of cluttering the infrastructure.

Here is the data Debounce stores temporarily (maximum 24 hours):

  1. IP Address
  2. Exact time of your usage of Debounce (on a per-request basis). This time is randomized by a range of 60 seconds.

How we collect your data

Debounce does not use any metrics / analytics tools, therefore all data collected by Debounce is either directly provided by you or comes from your usage of the service, in which case the respective data is not persisted.

  1. IP address - is collected solely from your active usage of Debounce
  2. Any other personal information - provided by you during account registration
  3. Stored data such as your notes and journals - inputted and managed by you

How we use cookies

Debounce only uses cookies that are required for essential functionality of the service, and does not use cookies for purposes of marketing, tracking or any other forms of non-essential functionality.

“Essential functionality” includes things such as account authentication (i.e. the ability to log into your Debounce account).

Third party services

- Cloudflare

All your traffic between you and Debounce servers travels through Cloudflare.com, so while Debounce is a privacy-oriented service, we cannot make any privacy claims for Cloudflare.

“Essential functionality” includes things such as account authentication (i.e. the ability to log into your Debounce account)

You can find the Cloudflare privacy policy at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

You can also read this community-maintained overview of Cloudflare's policy at https://tosdr.org/en/service/894.

Please note that while Cloudflare has access to your internet traffic, all data you save on Debounce (such as your notes or journals) are always encrypted and unreadable.

Additionally, any data provided during registration or login such as your email is accessible in plain-text on Cloudflare servers for a short period in order to re-encrypt the data with an appropriate certificate before being sent to Debounce servers. This exposure should be minimal and should not negatively affect privacy on Debounce.

- Zoho ZeptoMail

Debounce uses Zoho Zepto for transactional email, which means sending an email to inform or confirm about actions such as registration or authentication.
Zepto stores sent emails for up to 60 days.

You can find the Zoho privacy policy at https://www.zoho.com/privacy.html.
You can also read this community-maintained overview of Zoho's policies: https://tosdr.org/en/service/856

Other than this, Debounce does not share any data with any other party and only the owner of Debounce has access to internal infrastructure which allows to view your data (this internal infrastructure includes things like user emails and temporary access logs).
